"I am Noemi Flor Taburnal, currently a teacher of IS at The Manila Southwoods International School Inc. I have been teaching for more than a couple of years now, where my voice is one of my most significant tool.

Way back during my first year of teaching, I often experience vocal problems such as losing of voice, a hoarse voice and vexing throat. At first, I just thought it’s normal for a teacher who just started, not until I realized that I was using my voice too much and without proper care. From then, I did some changes with my own classroom schedule so that I will not use my voice for long periods of time. Also, I made changes with my lifestyle, a healthier lifestyle thinking that’s the only way to help me avoid such problems.

Things changed when I was given a chance to attend the Voice Care for Teachers workshop. Well, this was the first time I heard about it so I got curious and was excited too. Even though I had to travel a long distance, I thought it was worth a try. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Ada Cuaresma and Mr. Pocholo Gonzales, where I have learned things I've never learned before and during my time of teaching. The workshop has awaken me on how voice is substantial that I disregarded.Yes, Ms.Ada was right that "we afford to visit to the dentist or the salon yet, we never seek VOICE CARE". The workshop didn’t only leave us awakened but also, gave us tips/ ways how to take care of our voice before it we encounter a problem or worse, lose it.

Furthermore, they taught us how voice is being produced anatomically, therefore we also learned how to produce it properly. We also experienced how to do the deep proper breathing which I have been doing wrong, proper posture for a good voice formation and pitch in the decorous voice production. They also taught us how to maximize our voice in different ways and become a helpful tool to capture the listeners' or the students' attention. I also experienced to record an audiobook, one of the most exciting part. Hence, I started to bear it with my everyday life and I can see changes. So far, haven’t experienced again the preceding problems mentioned, and I discuss my lessons in a more relaxed manner. Never do I worry of losing my voice one day and I am more confident knowing that I am doing the right thing for my voice.

I am grateful to have learned things like these and to show my gratitude, I will keep on sharing Voice Care to other people, especially to teachers like me. Thank you Voice Care Philippines for the priceless effort you have given to us! MAY GOD BLESS YOU MORE!"
